Frank Frazetta



RIP: February 9, 1928 – May 10, 2010
The immensely talented and influential fantasy and science fiction artist Frank Frazetta has passed away yesterday, May 10th 2010. Frazetta's signature illustrations and paintings often featured brawny swordsman and savages, beautiful scantily clad women, beasts and fantasy monsters. He is mostly known with his works that depict the Death Dealer, Tarzan, Robert E Howard's Conan The Barbarian and his covers of Warren Publications magazine.


Many of Frazetta's paintings worth big amount of money and often sell in million dollar range. He also created the album covers for numerous bands, Molly Hatchett, Nazareth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Wolfmother and film posters for What's New Pussycat? and The Fearless Vampire Killers among others. In 2003, a documentary about him and his work entitled Frazetta: Painting With Fire has been released.

Frazetta didn't actually create album art for any of those listed bands- they used his art for their covers.
